ADLER
PLANETARIUM
I have a passion for
astronomy, so while in Chicago I became very fond of this place. It's
right on the lake, too, with a great view of the Chicago skyline.
AFRICAM
Lots of discreetly poised cameras capturing live animals in
the wilds of Africa. Often you'll see nothing, periodically you'll see incredible views of
beautiful creatures doing their thing, being wild and free, something I have a feeling for
many of these species, will disappear during our lifetime.
ALESIS
They've given me a bunch of gear that I've used for years. A few years ago
I did an ad with them.
ANDY & RENEE
Ah, my ol' pals. They deserve a place here. Andy Hill and I have been friends for many
years, and I have always looked up to him when it comes to the spoken word. When he
speaks, it's as if he wrote it down first, contemplated and memorized it. He's also much
taller than me. Renee Safear is his sparring partner when it comes to cerebral integrity.
Yikes! Don't get into an argument with these guys. They are terribly polite, but they'll
probably know more about the subject matter than you. Trust me. Oh, by the way, they make
great music... really wonderful music... didn't I say that in the first place?
BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF TRENTON
I've done some charity
work for these folks. They're good people making a real difference in the
world, one kid at a time.
BILLY BACON AND
THE FORBIDDEN PIGS
Mr. Bacon is a prolific songwriter. I love the versatility of his
voice, too. Back in my San Diego days I used to love
sitting in with them. Tex Mex meets Louie Prima meets blues and
country... it goes on and on. He calls it TEX-MEX
BLUES-A-BILLY. True road warriors! My friend Jerry"Hot Rod"
DeMink (who also has a link
on this page), while no longer
a member of the band, is on most of the recordings. They were like watching
some insane comedy ballet that I will never
forget. The Pigs are one of my favorite live
bands in the known
universe. Don't miss them. It's never the same twice, and
you might miss something. Oh, and bring your sombrero.
JOE BERGAMINI
Joe is a drummer extraordinaire who has subbed for Chuck Bergi on Movin' Out
since the beginning in 2002. He kicks ass live and on more recordings than I could ever
list here. He also shares the Movin' Out road show gig with Michael
Sorrentino, another incredible drummer. They split the gig into two week
intervals and go back and forth. Pretty cool arrangement, and very lucky for
the touring company to have such talented drummers.
Joe is a founding member of the progressive rock band 4Front, which is
featured on his very cool website, and is a
member of Happy The Man, a
progressive rock band that has been around since the '70's. He's not an
original member... don't think he's older than he is!
David Rosenthal
is also in Happy The Man, and is also mentioned here on my links page.
My friend Joe has also contributed his talents to the Broadway's Greatest
Gifts: Carols For The Cure
benefit recordings that Lynn Pinto and
Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids put out
every year. This year (2005) we did a second-line version of Jingle Bells,
with a few surprises in it. Upon hearing it, Chuck Bergi said, "Nobody but
Joe could have pulled this off so easily." Andy Cichon, bassist for
Billy Joel and
Shania Twain, also contributed his
talents to this recording. I consider myself very lucky to have had these
two guys agree to do this recording with me.
I hope I have the pleasure of playing more with Joe after Movin' Out closes.
He's phenomenal, he can read anything, and he's a great guy to hang with.
That was a prerequisite in the Movin' Out Band, and Joe's got a great sense
of humor.
Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids
Being on Broadway
requires that I be in the Actors Equity union, and AEA does a lot of charity
for people with HIV and AIDS. I've done quite a few
benefits for them myself.
Broadway's
GREATEST GIFTS: CAROLS FOR THE CURE
Me and some of the
Movin' Out boys have been recording for this seasonal record for the last
couple of years. We're on Volume 6 (2004, The Dance Of The Sugar Punk Fairy, with
Chuck Burgi on drums and Greg Smith on
bass) and Volume 7 (2005, a very New Orleans meets Billy Joel version of
Jingle Bells, with Joe Begamini on
drums and Andy Cichon on bass). Through the hard work of Linda Pinto and
Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids (and a lot of other people too numerous to
mention here), it's a charity record for people with HIV and AIDS. You can
buy it at most Broadway Theatres, and most record stores, as well as on line
through numerous internet record stores, like, but not limited to, the one
hyperlinked here.
CHAT 19
19 CHATSWORTH AVE
LARCHMONT, NY 10538
(914) 833-8871
An "American Grill"
venue in affluent Larchmont, NY, Westchester County. I play there solo about
every month and a half. It's a small intimate setting with really good food
and good drinks, and I always have a good time playing there. It's a good
idea to make reservations for an evening performance. Check out the
gigs page and the calendar
to see when the next time I'm there is.
JERRY "HOT ROD" DEMINK AND
MARTHA'S KITCHEN
A truly electric performer and a great friend. You won't be disappointed. And you won't
leave the venue hungry. Jerry's mom, Martha, cooks up fabulous Mexican cuisine throughout
any performance, hence the name. If you leave hungry, it's your own damn fault. It you
leave disappointed, you weren't watching the band.
Jerry was also the guitarist for one of my favorite bands, Billy Bacon And The Forbidden
Pigs, which has a hyper link just above this entry. Jerry
is on most of their recordings.
Back in the days when I was playing San Diego all the time (1990-96), Jerry and his
roommate at the time Carson Whitsett (check out Carson's hyper link towards the bottom of
this page) let me and my little band crash at their pad all
the time. They even fed us! I don't know if I'll ever be able to fully express my
gratitude to them for their kindness. Now, go check out Carson's and Billy's
hyperlinks!
BARRY DeNIELIAN
Trumpet player in Movin' Out, very deep and intelligent cat, and a
very talented musician. And my friend, I'm proud to say! Check out his
record, "Common Ground." I listen to it all the time.
EARTH
LIGHTS
This appears to be a satellite shot of the Americas
illuminated by city lights. I'm not sure how they did this, but I think it's beautiful.
Brought to my attention by Carson Whitsett.
Futures In
Education Foundation
Every year these people put on a
benefit program called Angels On The Fairway. The goal is to collect money
to put more kids in school. Simple as that! So far, they have been quite
successful.
THE GETTY
Not getting enough culture? Yogurt and cheese ain't doin' it
for ya? Check out the new Getty Museum in LA, off of the Sepulveda Pass section of
the 405. It's just incredible, and quite affordable. The old Getty in Malibu has been closed for years for
renovations, and is scheduled to re-open again within a few years.
The Associations For Glycogen Storage
Disease (GSD)
Not a lot is know about
this disease that strikes children, just not enough children for it to
attract the kind of funding it needs to make some breakthroughs on how to
deal with it and eradicate it. The parents of a child with GSD must pay in
ways I can't begin to describe. So, I hope that with more fundraising we can
eventually help these kids, and parents, to lead a normal healthy life.
Great Neck Arts
Center
113 Middle Neck Road
Great Neck, NY 11021
(516) 829 2570
An intimate, 150 seat Long Island theater venue where I have had the
pleasure of performing solo. I had a great time. Can't wait to do it again!
Support the arts and go see a show or two there! Love these folks!
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
You can really help some of the victims of Katrina by donating to this hard
working charitable organization. Or, just go to the location and help them
build a house.
HAPPY THE MAN
My friends
Joe Bergamini on drums and the brilliant keyboardist
David Rosenthal
play in this
progressive rock band that's been around since the '70's. Joe also has a
band called 4FRONT and David has more credits than I can list. He's been
Billy Joel's keyboard player for a long time.
ISLAND HARVEST
I've done some benefit
work for this organization and I love them. They feed the hungry of Long
Island, New York. Hey, charity begins at home. Check 'em out.
BILLY
JOEL
The Man, dot com.
TED KEEGAN
One of the former
Phantoms of the Broadway production of Phantom Of The Opera, I've had the
pleasure of doing a few benefits with Mr. Keegan. Not only am I blown away
with his tremendous talent and beautiful voice (and I mean BEAUTIFUL voice),
but also his kind. humble and generous nature. I really like the guy.
This is an "appreciation" site done by a fan who is not officially
affiliated with Ted in any way. But it has a bio, a discography, articles
and reviews, some photos and updates, and it sporadically make mention of
his appearances with various symphony orchestras around the country. Ted
does have his own website at
www.tedkeegan.com, but it's not up and running at this writing. I'm
confident that it will eventually be operational and you'll be able to buy
his recordings and check his performance schedule soon.
The Long Island Pulse
A local Long Island, NY paper and web site for your Long Island pleasure.
Check out Nada's Notes! She was kind enough to advertise a show I did at the
Great Neck Arts Center (also a
link on this page) in March of 2006, so I'm grateful to her and the paper
for their interest in my music, the arts, and everything that is Long
Island.
STEVE LUCKY AND THE RHUMBA BUMS
FEATURING CARMEN GETIT
I only saw the band twice, but it was enough for me to want
to buy their CD's and babble about Carmin's cool guitar playing. Great band!
Buy their CD. Catch 'em if you see 'em in town. An absolute blast.
BOB MALONE
A Fess styled, gruff voiced piano playing Jersey boy,
and my friend. On his
website's links page,
he says, "I stole most of my flashiest, most impressive
piano moves from Wade."
Very kind of you to say, Bob. Thanks!
We share the New Orleans influence in our playing, and can yack about it
for hours on end. Bob has been doing a great deal of charity work for the
victims of Katrina, so you should go and buy every Bob Malone record there
is right now. All the profits are going to the
Red Cross. Bob's a good man. Go see
him when he plays in your neighborhood. He's touring all the time.
LAURIE
McDERMOTT
Comedy
is key, baby... Laurie is a wonderful Southern California based comedienne.
Apparently I had a crush on her years ago. I don't remember, but she's very pretty and smart,
very funny, the kind
I tend to go for (I like people I can learn from), so it's probably true. Anyway, read her monthly article "CEO
Of The House." I envy her will to stand up to people who lie and
cheat. I tend to quietly endure, but that's changed a lot over the years.
A guy can only take so much incompetence and blatant apathy before he
starts to lose his cool...
DEAN MORA AND HIS
MODERN RHYTHMISTS
Mr. Mora is the real thing. He is a time warp, doing 1920's
through 30's swing. Occasionally he does classical concerts. Get on
his mailing list, and check out the examples of his recordings. They're
excellent.
CRISTOPHER
PELLANI
SOUNDSCAPE PYRAMIDS
Christopher, drummer,
percussionist, is always busy. Check out his CD's. Very
cool stuff. "Gino" is the original drummer of the Wade
Preston Band which you can listen to on the sounds
page. We go back a long way, and it was ond hell of
a band. There is also a bio about him on my
website at wadepreston.com/pellani.htm.
Someday, we'll play again, I'm sure.
THE
NINE PLANETS
Astronomy.
LON PRICE
One hell of an alto and tenor sax player, and a great
arranger. His credits are way too numerous to list here. There is a lot of
info here, you could spend days going through all of his achievements.
OLD
TOWN MANASSAS ANTIQUES
Paige's Mom's antiques shop.
TOBIAS RALPH
Another great drummer
who covered for Chuck Burgi in Movin' Out for quite a while. He
seems to be quite popular in Europe. But I've heard him go off before shows
and trust me, he's truly amazing. Sooner or later the Americans will catch
on! Can't wait to get him involved with some outside projects, although now
that the show has closed, he'll be subbing on the Movin' Out road show
regularly. He and his wife just had a baby, insuring that
they'll be great musicians in our future, too!
THE RED CROSS
Please
continue to help the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast,
as well as the Tsunami victims, by donating to
The Red Cross.
The Christopher Reeve Paralysis
Foundation
I was
happy to honor a request to play at a fundraiser for Mr. and Mrs. Reeves
groundbreaking charitable organization. I will never forget his uncanny
courage, and the way he made me laugh when he was in such a trying state.
The world is a better place for having known him, and his unendingly
gracious wife Dana.
(also

DAVID
ROSENTHAL
One of the finest keyboard players
alive.
David has been Billy Joel's keyboard player for many years.
He is also a member of Happy The Man,
a progressive rock band that has been around since the '70's, to which there
is also a hyperlink on this page. He's not an original member of the band,
so don't think he's older than he actually is!
ROYAL CROWN REVUE
A great swing band. This is one of the coolest websites I've ever seen. I love the retro
artwork.

JOHN
SCARPULLA
Sax and percussion player in Movin' Out, and a
very dear friend. Man, he can play...
GREG SMITH
Bassist and Background Vocalist in Movin' Out, and my buddy. Also, my
neighbor. He has quite the resume...
THE SMITHSONIAN
Endless culture in the heart of DC.
SPACE EXPLORATION ON LINE
More astronomy.
SUPER STRING THEORY
Sometimes I like to pretend I'm actually
educated. For all of my endless query's towards my
friends at JPL, I still can't quite get the concept of String Theory. It makes
Einstein's Theory of Relativity seem like a cake mix. I'll keep trying, though. There are
many sites for this sort of thing. Check your search engine. It will give you endless
choices.
Also, Relativity and Time Travel, as well as Speed Of Gravity and Speed Of Light, are one of
the many things discussed in Carson Whitsett Jr.'s website (there is also a hyper link and
brief synopsis towards the bottom of this page) at http://www.leapfrogsw.com
. Scroll down on the left hand side and click on WIKI!!!, scroll down on the right hand
side and click on "Carson's Thoughts". There you'll find links to discussion's
on quite a few thought provoking concepts.
RON
SUFFREDINI
A
one-man dramatic interpretation of the moment Billy Madison (Adam Sandler
played by Ron Suffredini) gets caught red-handed by his teacher (also
played by Ron) stealing the children's milk. For shame. QuickTime should
do nicely with this! By the way, this has nothing to do with music, just
up here for your entertainment. Ron is a brilliant bassist and vocalist
who I frequently employed when I lived on the west
coast. I miss my buddy. Clearly, he has his nutty
side. This could take up to about four minutes to download
if you're on dial-up.
Click here to check out his bio.
TWYLA
THARP
The
brilliant choreographer and director of Movin' Out. Still won't let me get
a picture of her, though...
She's presently working on a Bob Dylan show in San Diego poised to come to
Broadway, and many of my friends are involved with it.
WARR GUITARS
While the name might conjure up visions of Platoon, tracer bullets, night
goggles and Wolf Blitzen, the thought and clever workmanship that goes into these multi
stringed tapping instruments designed by Mark Warr makes for a very worthy note.
Lots of music to listen to featuring
Jim Wright,
who also has a link at the bottom of this page. See and hear what happens
when a
fine musician and an excellent, however unusual, instrument collide.
CARSON WHITSETT Jr. and
MAC BRICKOUT
Carson, a mild mannered computer genius and equipment repair
wizard, as well as an incredibly kind human being, invented a computer game called Mac
Brickout that can be found at www.leapfrogsw.com .There
is a revue of this clever and quite successful game at http://www.insidemacgames.com/reviews/00/macbrickout/
. From what I understand, there is a PC version. I've been mulling over his website and found tons of fun things on there to
check out. Scroll down on the left hand side and click on WIKI!!!, for starters. Scroll
down on the right hand side and check out "Carson's Thoughts." There are all
kinds of things here. This site is huge!
As I mentioned on Jerry DeMink's hyperlink, back in the days when I was playing San Diego
all the time (1990-96), Carson and Jerry, who were roommates at the time, let me and my little band crash at their pad all the time. They even fed us! I
don't know if I'll ever be able to fully express my gratitude to them for their kindness.
By the way, Carson is an excellent keyboard player! And his father, Carson Sr., is a
professional keyboard player and writer who's touring, session and writing credits would
fill this entire page. Like his son, he and his family also showed me great kindness when
I played in Nashville, where he resides. I'm hoping Carson Sr. will have a website that I can put a link
to up here one of these days. For now, though, there is a picture and brief bio of him on Kathy Mattea's website , who he is presently on
tour with, at http://www.mattea.com/band.html#Whitsett
.
JIM
WRIGHT
Jim is an old friend and great musician. He's on my website (wright.htm),
where I talk about him and his music in greater detail. That page also includes links to
his website and Warr Guitars.
PETER
ZAK
Brilliant jazz pianist who subbed on the Movin' Out synth chair quite a bit.
Check out his CD and catch a "jaw dropping" (as Movin' Out and now Billy
Joel drummer Chuck Burgi would say) live performance.
