Christopher "Gino" Pellani
Christopher Pellani: Christopher is a dynamic percussionist adept in all
musical styles. His performance versatility includes concerts, television shows and
videos, as well as regular film and studio recordings. He also maintains an ongoing
instructional and music therapy practice.
Pellani has recorded and performed rock, r & b and world beat music with a diverse
array of artists. He is always in demand for concert and studio dates. Christopher was
chosen as one of the ten outstanding drummers for BAM magazines November 1993 article on
UNSUNG DRUMMING HEROES OF L.A., and competed for the national finals for the
LONG BEACH BLUES festival in 1993.
Mr. Pellani was also the first western drummer ever to play a concert in Hanoi, North
Vietnam with Air Supply in January of 1997. Gino, as he is often called by his
friends for no apparent reason that anyone can remember, has released three critically
acclaimed SOUNDSCAPE PYRAMIDS CD's so far. I suspect there are
many more on the way know his level of energy. Click

About Christopher, by Wade:
Christopher is a consummate accompanist. Hes is a very unique personality, being
able to seemingly communicate with just about anybody he encounters. He is an accomplished
musicologist. He seems to influence everybody he plays with, simply by knowing about the
music the artist is interested in. "Gino" has an incredible repertoire. I've
never been able to stump him. When I thought I'd learned something to impress him with, he
almost always already knew it, plus others like it, that I usually hadnt heard yet.
Christopher has a lot to do with the New Orleans music in my repertoire, obscure music I
probably wouldnt have ever dug up on my own. He's had a huge influence on me.
Soundscape's first CD Revue from Wade:
SOUNDSCAPE PYRAMIDS, THE RETURN by Christopher Pellani.
The Return, Christopher Pellanis Soundscape Pyramids debut
project is an eloquent mix of tribal and hypnotic meditation music with intermittent ocean
front sounds, cleverly guided and arranged by "Gino" himself. Christopher really
deserves a lot of credit for this effort. What started as a spiritual drum ceremony turned
into a recording concept that will probably keep Pellani busy for the rest of his earthly
days. Basically what he did was collected a number of percussionists together and asked
them to contribute in a drum circle jam kind of setting. He then captured the inspired
musical ceremony on tape. After listening through what he had recorded, he asked his
favorite musician friends to play along with their improvisational contributions, all the
while being gently guided by Christophers vision. What we end up with is over an
hour of inspirational, wonderfully eclectic and spiritually uplifting music.
The contributors also deserve credit here, too. Jim Wright had
just about everything to do with the engineering, recording and mixing of this disc. He,
myself, Clifford Rehrig, John Meadows, Cecilia Noel, R. H. and others, all contributed in
writing as well as performing. But none of it would have happened with out
Christophers personable leadership and quest for a musical vision. Its well
worth the karmic responsibility you incur while playing it on your CD player.
