Kim and Jim In The Morning (MP3)

I'll have some Movin' Out stuff up here soon. I can't legally put a whole song up, but I'll have some edited versions for listening. In the meantime, listen to some recordings that I own and am happy to share with you for free!

The Wade Preston Band

Rain In The Woods (mp3 file)

Rain In The Woods: Lyrics
Probably my best known song. I had a minor hit with this on the west coast when it came out. It  got a little airplay, and I actually heard myself on the radio once while driving south on Pacific Coast Highway.
Dedicated to Margaret (Meg) Lynch. Arranged by Tommy Byrnes.

Bumble Boogie (mp3 file)

Bumble Boogie: Info
A raucous little boogie based on Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight Of The Bumble Bee.
There is a youtube.com vid of me playing this at a solo concert I did in either 2005 or 2006, at the Great Neck Arts Center on Long Island, NY.

Catherine Is Dancing: Lyrics
One of my favorite signature songs.

SOUNDS OF
VIVO PRESTO SWING LIVE

These songs were recorded live between June and July of 1998.

Greenbacks (mp3 file)
Modeled after The Ray Charles version.

Barnyard Boogie (mp3 file)
One of my favorite's, perhaps because it's just so silly. I love Louie Jordan, and we did a lot of his material.

It Don't Mean A Thing (mp3 file)
Perhaps not a flawless performance, but Shauna's voice shines, and the band rocks.

Come Rain Or Come Shine (mp3 file)
One of my favorite ballads, modeled after The Ray Charles version. Check out George McMullen's beautiful trombone solo.

Sounds of the Wade Preston Jazz Ensemble:

Stolen Moments (mp3 file)
Recorded in late 1999. The swing band carried me in a whole new direction as far as instrumental jazz and horn arranging is concerned, and I loved working with this ensemble.
The solo sections are George McMullen on trombone, George Harper on baritone sax, Osama Afifi on bass, Larry Goldman on tenor sax with Jeff Falcone on drums, and then my maniacal piano solo. There were several martinis involved.

This piece is almost eleven minutes long, so, depending on your connection,
it may take a while to download
.

Thanks for listening!

Wade
